Foolproofing

Here is a confidence building exercise for anyone who lacks assurance in presenting a rational argument about what matters in this election year 2012 or for life values in general. Although these were produced to educate the young; there is no reason any age won’t benefit from hearing these basic logic pointers for critical thinking.
Critical Thinking: Argument: A Field Guide (Source)

“This is the first of a set of six videos put together by a group in Australia, and they're outstanding introductions to the concepts of logic and critical thinking, particularly well-suited (IMHO) to the questioning mind of a child, but cleverly including iconography that the adult viewer will link to real-life issues without ever actually saying what those issues are. They're short - about 2 minutes each - and well-focused on a single aspect of critical thinking, each leading into the next quite well.”

 Part 6: Precautionary Tale

Whenever someone speaks about what makes Encinitas so unique, so exceptional, you'll hear the oft-sighted fact that the community is so well educated.  This is a challenge to an extremely bright electorate to start helping the rest of us identify how our city council majority employs arguments that defy all of the logical elements spelled out in the video clips shown here.  This kind of clear information through critical thinking in the local papers' commentaries, letters and comments would educate our populace (and our local reporters) in how to talk to and / or refute the council majority constructs. We're no fools.
